ADOPT NANI TODAY!

PWF researchers initially sighted Bottlenose Dolphin #022, known now as Nani, twice in 1996. Since then, Nani has been seen nine times in the Maui Nui region. During a sighting in 2014, she was seen swimming with a calf confirming that she is female. Identifying known mothers in the population, like Nani, helps our researchers better understand the reproductive rates of these dolphins. Knowing this allows the Research team to see how various threats can impact reproduction and the population. The most recent sighting was March 2019 by a researcher assistant collecting data onboard a PacWhale Eco-Adventures vessel.
